Saturdays have always been my favorite day of the week–now more so than ever. Look what the postman dropped off at my front door…
Of course, the advanced reading copies (ARCs) of my debut April release came on the day I didn’t fix my hair or wear earrings. And the woolen sweater I’m wearing? Decidedly not chic. But I don’t care! It was such an amazing feeling to hold my book in my hands. My husband and I kept thumbing through the pages, reading different passages of MY WORDS. LOL I know, I sound ridiculous. But I don’t care! 
Do you want to know what I loved the most about receiving the ARCs? The look on my husband’s face when he read the dedication.
PS–For those of you who aren’t familiar with advanced reading copy, the ARC is a pre-publication of the final book. Publishers send the ARC to booksellers, reviewers, libraries, etc. to help create a buzz about the book prior to its release. Studios and networks do something similar for their new movies or TV series via film critiques, pre-release screenings, commercials, and trailers. ARCs feel and look a little different than the final product. They might also contain minor typographical errors, which (oddly enough) can make them collector’s items.

The event was first announced on Barbara’s blog, Beyond Her Book, during her 60th birthday celebration. I’m pleased and honored to be one of the 37 authors invited to participate. New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Heather Graham will be the keynote speaker. Proceeds from the event will benefit local libraries. Like all authors, I’ve waited anxiously for months to catch my first glimpse of my debut novel’s cover. And here it is:
The burnt orange is eye-catching and vibrant. Reminds me of the roses in my wedding bouquet. I also have an affinity for orange-scented candles. Fate, you think?
The font styles, along with the heroine’s knife, reflects the story’s suspense element. With just one look at the cover, the reader can see this is a dark Regency romance. According to my editor, the cover has one more round of approvals to get through before it’s considered the FINAL cover, so don’t be surprised if you see a slightly different version a little later on.
